‘Unidos por la Infancia’, A Match to Remember: Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer

Madrid, December 22nd, 2010 – After yesterday’s match in Zurich, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer have landed in Madrid where they plan to continue their charity work. Both players are very familiar with the ‘Caja Mágica’; the same stage where they have played together twice in the past but where today they will face each other with a different objective in mind: To raise funds in favour of the Rafa Nadal Foundation and therefore help children with disabilities as well as those who come from disadvantaged communities. “To me, today is a very special day. I am lucky enough to be able to do what I love to do which is to play tennis, but at the same time, through my Foundation, I get the opportunity to help hundreds of kids who are not as lucky.”

Flashback: French Open Champion Rafael Nadal and his famous Ass

PARIS (AP) — Roger Federer‘s bid to complete a career Grand Slam was foiled again Sunday by nemesis Rafael Nadal at the French Open.

Nadal earned his third Roland Garros title in a row, saving 16 of 17 break points to beat Federer 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

“I am very happy,” Nadal said during the trophy ceremony. “But I am really sad for Roger. He is a friend and I know he is a great champion, whether he wins or loses.”

For the third consecutive year in Paris, the top-ranked Federer sought to become the sixth man to win all four Grand Slam events. Nadal defeated him in the semifinals in 2005 and in the final last year.

“Of course I’m a bit sad, a bit disappointed,” Federer said. “I hope to one day win it.” Keep reading
